WILLOW Classroom Training

The 4-day WILLOW training has been adapted to address High Impact Prevention (HIP) and includes participation in a 3-hour Pre-Course webinar prior to attending the Training of Facilitators (TOF) course. Prerequisites for the WILLOW TOF include:

  • Provide evidence of small group facilitation.
  • Provide evidence of certification in HIV 101.
  • Completed pre-implementation worksheets.
  • Provide a facilitation team that includes a trained (HIV 101 and group facilitation) peer facilitator (a woman living with HIV).
  • Documented attendance at the WILLOW TOF Pre-Course.

WILLOW classroom trainings are typically conducted over a four-day period.

During the classroom training, you will participate in the following:

  • Present pre-implementation findings (must bring to the TOF).
  • Overview of WILLOW-HIP.
  • Discuss key components of the intervention.
  • Observe activities as they are modeled.
  • Participate in a fish bowl exercise.
  • Practice presenting activities from the different sessions.
  • Conduct a teach-back of one assigned activity.
  • Participate in an individual conference with a trainer.
  • Schedule a capacity building assistance (CBA) request.

How to request a training

If you are a health department, clinic or community-based organization funded by CDC to implement an evidence-based intervention or public health strategy, please submit a training request through the CDC Capacity Building Assistance (CBA) Tracking System (CTS). If CDC does not fund your agency to implement an evidence-based intervention or public health strategy, please contact your state health department so that they can submit a request for training on your behalf.
