Popular Opinion Leader Classroom Training

Popular Opinion Leader (POL) is a community-level intervention that involves identifying, enlisting, and training key opinion leaders to encourage safer sexual norms and behaviors within their social networks through risk-reduction conversations.

After the completion of this training, participants will have the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively implement the POL intervention. Participants will be able to:

  • Explain the POL background.
  • Explain the components of formative work for POL.
  • State the POL intervention planning stages.
  • Demonstrate the skills required to conduct the POL facilitation sessions.
  • Identify sources of technical assistance for POL implementation.

This course is interactive and includes group and individual activities. Each participant will be required to conduct an effective teach-back of a segment of the POL intervention.

How to request a training

If you are a health department, clinic or community-based organization funded by CDC to implement an evidence-based intervention or public health strategy, please submit a training request through the CDC Capacity Building Assistance (CBA) Tracking System (CTS).
